Super Micro Computer’s mission is to develop and provide end‑to‑end computing solutions and high‑performance networking products. We have an immediate need for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our talented and bright design team. The candidate will play a key role in the development process of in‑house server motherboards, working collaboratively with cross‑functional engineering teams and outside partners to ensure robust board design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for schematics capture, layout checking, BOM generating, debugging, and testing of server motherboards / add‑on cards / backplane products.
- Collaborate with layout, validation, software, firmware, product engineers and other teams to discover and solve engineering issues early and enhance product quality.
- Prepare technical documentation including product specifications, layout instructions, test procedures, etc.
- Ensure products conform to engineering specifications, EMC and energy regulations, and customer performance expectations.
- Provide clear documents and strong technical support to contract manufacturers and production departments during product sample and production stages.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 1 year of experience working with x86 server / workstation boards (preferred).
- Deep understanding of x86 architecture and comprehensive knowledge of PCB layout, debugging tools and software, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
- In‑depth knowledge of PCB layout, OrCAD/Allegro tools, circuit design, and PCB structure.
- Knowledge of high‑speed circuit design and voltage regulation circuits.
- Familiar with digital scope and high‑speed bus measurement.
- Excellent organizational skills, problem‑solving capability, and strong ability to adopt and learn new technologies.
- Self‑motivated and enthusiastic about working in a fast‑paced environment.
$98,000 - $155,000 (salary depends on location, level, education, training, experience, and comparison to other employees). Additional compensation may include bonus and equity award programs.
