The RoleIn this high‑profile role, you will be the overall program lead for our AECG ASIC product development from initial customer engagement through mass production. As the Chief Engineer you will provide cross‑functional leadership for scoping of the product, engineering and production ramp to ensure schedule, cost and quality objectives are met to fulfill the engineering, business and customer requirements.
The PersonWhile this is a technical role, it is also a strategic role – you will be empowered to drive methodology enhancements to continue AMD’s trajectory toward higher levels of capability and quality. It’s also a global leadership role where you will draw on your prior track record of building high‑performing teams. This role will require a wide breadth to span architecture, design/verification, power/performance, product engineering, quality and system validation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead program scoping efforts during initial customer acquisition phase of the project
- Direct and matrix manage program management, design, verification, technology, system, product, software and quality
- Responsible to AECG ASIC engineering and business leadership and report out regularly on plan, status, critical decisions, debug and customer issues
- Accountable for delivering products aligned to specification across various design and development teams
- Decision making role for design, process and integration challenges faced in the planning of advanced SOC development
- Identify technology, SoC and platform feature risk areas and develop mitigation plans
- Make final PPA (Power, Performance, Area) bounding box commitments and drive execution to ensure attainment
- Relevant working experience in new product development from an SoC design, platform, product and/or program management discipline
- Experience in a leadership role as a driving multi‑site and multi‑disciplined SOC engineering programs
- Strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process (preferably ASIC), from concept to tape‑out to production required
- Ability to develop an end‑to‑end SoC/Platform project plan, structure and execute complex analysis, draw insights and communicate summary findings/recommendations to senior management and customers
- Experience in an ASIC role leading to an understanding of end‑end development
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and debug skills
- Ability to network, build relationships and drive effective decision‑making across multiple functions and levels within the organization
- Highly organized, able to prioritize and juggle multiple work streams to tight deadlines
- Exceptional executive and client management verbal and written communication and program management skills
- Outstanding people management skills to lead, motivate and guide world‑class engineers
- Familiarity with design, verification, emulation, system validation, process/design interactions, product development, quality and silicon qualification; preference for significant experience spanning a variety of these areas
- BS or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
