Role description

Arcadis is seeking an Industrial Water Growth Lead to join our West Coast Design and Engineering team as a “seller/doer”. This technical position will be key to our growth in the US, with a focus on the west coast, undertaking conceptual and detailed process design for industrial water treatment and sustainability projects in industries including Technology, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Life Science, Aerospace, Automotive, Chemical, and Pulp & Paper.

The Industrial Water Regional Growth Lead will be a key member of Arcadis s national practice and will lead and direct the development of industrial water/wastewater projects in California and throughout the western United States, across multiple sectors and for numerous Arcadis clients. Industrial Water is a fast-growing global business sector and Arcadis is positioned for significant growth through delivering large, complex projects across a diverse client base and geographies.

This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities

In this role, you will lead client management and development, and serve as a technical expert during project execution. This is a client-facing role with collaboration across Arcadis locations to support projects and client development nationally and globally. This is suitable for someone with a consulting engineering background within the Water Sector, focusing on Industrial Water/Wastewater Treatment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the development of the Industrial Water process team across market sectors.
  • Support Arcadis’ industrial water growth in CA and the western United States.
  • Lead projects and clients in the planning, design, and construction of Water/Wastewater treatment plants and wastewater recycling facilities for industrial clients.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplined engineering teams.
  • Lead or serve as Subject Matter Expert or Design Manager for complex designs, including:
    • Design basis documents (direction/review)
    • Engineering calculations (mass and energy balances, direction/review)
    • Review of engineering drawings (P&IDs and Layout)
    • Specifications for treatment equipment, instrumentation, and controls
    • Engineering reports and feasibility studies (direction/review)
    • Quality reviews
  • Assist project managers with developing and managing scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Manage technical coordination and leadership on larger or complex projects or projects with higher risk.
  • Lead knowledge transfer and staff development within your area of expertise.
  • Lead business development activities to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships. This includes:
    • Leading pursuits and development of proposals
    • Client meetings for business development
    • Working with clients to determine needs and provide solutions
    • Participating in client interviews
    • Engaging with regional, national, and global client account teams to grow the industrial water/wastewater portfolio
    • Preparation of abstracts and technical papers
Key skills

Industrial water/wastewater professional with experience in one or more of the following areas: biological treatment, zero liquid discharge, brine management (including thermal evaporation and crystallization), detailed design, in-plant water use optimization (reduce/reuse/recycle), ultra-high purity water production (for semiconductor manufacturing). Also experienced with industries such as Technology (semiconductors), Oil & Gas, Chemical/Petrochemical, Life Science, Food & Beverage, Pulp & Paper, Automotive, and Aerospace.
