Math Tutor - Part Time

Role Description

Connection Math is looking for a math tutor to grow along side the business. An ideal candidate will be a current teacher, teacher in training or tutor that’s great at explaining the fundamentals to late elementary and early middle school students (concepts like multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and early algebra). Bonus points if you’ve worked with students with disabilities (such as ADHD) or students behind grade level on IEP plans.

• Tutor is expected to help students with homework, prepare students for tests, explain math concepts, and build confidence in student math skills.
• Tutor will work in both 1-1 and group settings (typically 2-1).
• Tutor will be supported with access to online resources, textbooks, calculators, and other tutors/center director to help and collaborate on student support.

• Teaching credentials or training to become a teacher.
• Bachelors in Math, Computer Science, or other hard Science.
• Knowledgeable in Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics.

• Passion for learning.
• Ability to explain difficult concepts to others.
• Patience to work with high school, middle school, and late elementary school students.
• Comfortable teaching/tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
• Transport to our physical tutor center (10 minute walk from Race Street VTA station is a possibility).

$25-$32 per hour DOE on W-2
