Position DescriptionThe School of Information at San José State University is pleased to announce a search for a tenure-track Assistant Professor - Information Science beginning in August 2026. The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach and contribute to the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program. In addition, we will strongly prefer faculty whose expertise aligns with and supports multiple programs such as the BS in Information Science and Data Analytics (BSISDA) or the MS in Informatics (MSI), MARA, and/or MSIDT.
We are especially interested in faculty with interdisciplinary teaching and research strengths that bridge traditional LIS domains with emerging areas in data science, information technology, and human-centered computing.
San José State University’s School of Information (SJSU - School of Information - Information Science School) prepares individuals for careers as information professionals, offering a variety of bachelor's and master's degrees programs, doctoral partnership programs, certification and credentials programs. Graduates work in diverse areas of the information profession, such as user experience design, digital asset management, information architecture, electronic records management, information governance, digital preservation, and librarianship.

Required Qualifications- Terminal degree in the field:
Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent in Library and Information Science or related field. - An earned doctorate by the start of appointment.
