Department Summary
Ed.D. Educational Leadership Program at San José State University prepares the next generation of leaders with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to understand the causes of inequitable outcomes in P‑12 and higher educational institutions. The program is cohort‑based and focuses on impact on minoritized students.
Responsibilities• Teach doctoral courses in the Ed.D. Leadership Program (e.g., contexts for education leadership, research methodology, organizational behavior, and educational theory and practice). Justify inclusive course materials and strategies for a diverse student population.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Hold classes as scheduled in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, or in‑person).
• Maintain a teaching record and support evidence of teaching excellence at the doctoral level.
• Participate in department meetings and support program planning as required.
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in social sciences, humanities, or education.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the discipline assigned.
- Publication record or potential for scholarly work.
- Experience working with adult learners and evidence of past academic success.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.
- Capability to meet the inclusive teaching requirements described above.
- Teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate level.
- Experience in both face‑to‑face and web‑based delivery systems.
- Commitment to eliminating educational disparities impacting minoritized students.
- Expertise that complements the existing faculty of the Ed.D. Leadership Program.
Salary ranges are based on qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly salary ranges (full‑time equivalents) are:
- L‑A – $5,507 to $5,959
- L‑B – $6,221 to $7,481
- L‑C – $6,825 to $9,431
- L‑D – $8,593 to $10,347
