The department of Mathematics and Statistics at San José State University has four undergraduate programs and three graduate programs, and trains students pursuing a single subject credential in Mathematics.
Brief Description of Duties- Candidate must be able to supervise student teachers.
- Candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a diverse student population—age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, academic preparation—through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
- All classes must be organized within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and scheduled according to the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, bi‑chronous, in‑person or hybrid) throughout the semester or term.
- MA in mathematics education or education.
- California single‑subject teaching credential in Mathematics.
- Local high school teaching experience.
- Working knowledge of student‑teaching requirements for the credential program.
- Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
- Aware of and sensitive to the educational goals of a multicultural population.

- Anticipated starting salary:
- L‑A Range 2: $5,507 – $5,959
- L‑B Range 3: $6,221 – $7,481
- L‑C Range 4: $6,825 – $9,431
- L‑D Range 5: $8,593 – $10,347
These are full‑time annual pay ranges; part‑time rates are prorated and paid on a monthly basis (six monthly payments per semester).
