Overview
KIPP - Vietnamese Teacher (Part Time) - High School - San Jose (25-26)
This position is part of the KIPP Public Schools Northern California network. The role focuses on delivering Vietnamese language instruction at the high school level within a diverse, anti-racist educational community.
Responsibilities- Teach with
Purpose:
plan daily lessons, design intentional curriculum, and analyze data to support student learning. Implement Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Restorative Practices to create a joyful, inclusive classroom community. - Support and
Collaboration:
work with the school Leadership Team and Instructional Coach, participate in weekly meetings and ongoing feedback to improve instructional practices. - Maintain Regular Communication: engage with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders to build strong partnerships.
- Attend and engage in weekly Professional Development and Communities of Practice to grow as an educator.
- Update student records regularly (attendance, grades, behavior data, etc.).
- Experience as an educator teaching students from demographics similar to the KIPP NC student community is preferred.
- Education:
Hold a B.A./B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution. - Eligibility requirements:
Hold a valid teaching credential in the desired subject, or eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit, or eligibility for a Short Term Staff Permit.
- Commitment to the KIPP mission and to being an anti-racist educator.
- Belief that all students can achieve at high levels; strong content knowledge.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and communities; effective communication with students, families, and colleagues.
- Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Classroom, Hangouts, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) and ability to use instructional technology for in-class or distance learning (e.g., Zoom, Nearpod).
- Daily and long-term lesson planning aligned with KIPP’s academic vision and goals.
- Regular data analysis to inform instruction and address student needs.
- Create and maintain a positive, rigorous, inclusive classroom environment using Restorative Practices and SEL.
- Apply culturally responsive classroom management to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships.
- Participate in weekly professional development and Communities of Practice.
- Maintain up-to-date student records (attendance, grades, behavior data, etc.).
- Physical: Ability to navigate school and classroom settings, use technology, occasional lifting 1-20 lbs, and perform physical actions as required to perform duties.
- Mental: Ability to handle deadlines, analyze problems, manage interruptions, concentrate for extended periods, read, perform routine math, and recall information.
- Environmental: School environment with potential interruptions; adhere to health and safety guidelines per CDC, CDE, and public health guidance.
This is a full-time, exempt position on a school year calendar, located at our school sites.
CompensationKIPP Northern California offers competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and transportation benefits). Salary benchmarks are updated annually; the KIPP Bay Area Scale is used for compensation guidance.
