The Lucas College and Graduate School of Business of San José State University welcomes applications for part-time faculty appointments to teach courses in its undergraduate programs, should an opening arise, on its main campus in San José, California.

Brief Description of Duties
  • We are seeking lecturers who are interested in teaching at the undergraduate level. Must be excellent in teaching and engaging with students. In addition to teaching during the designated class time must be responsible for weekly office hours, creating and evaluating student exams and assignments. Positions start at the beginning of a semester and appointments may be renewed based on department need, funding, and performance.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity–including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation–through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
  • Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes. School of Management regular program does not teach asynchronous courses and hires lecturers to teach in-person on its San José State University campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree from an accredited university, business school, or law school.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience, and/or significant university teaching experience. Those in process to a Ph.D. or doctoral degree present their current status as part of the application.
  • Applicants who are pursuing relevant scholarly or applied research or have significant and recent professional experience in the areas of importance to the School of Management are preferred.
  • Areas of teaching include:
    Strategic Management, Business Law, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory, Human Resource Management (variety of topics), Business and Society, Ethics, and Introduction to Business.
  • Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Applicants who are pursuing relevant scholarly or applied research or have significant and recent professional experience in the areas of importance to the School of Management are preferred. All applicants will be assessed based on AACSB qualification standards.
