Under the direct supervision of the Principal and/or Extended Care Manager, the Extended Care Assistant will assist in providing an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for children in TK/K through 8th grade who are participating in the before and/or after‑school care program. The Assistant will supervise children, prepare activities, address their needs and create an atmosphere where students are active and engaged.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED):Assist in implementing the Extended Care program as directed by the Principal and/or Extended Care Manager.
Ensure a safe and healthy environment based on the school’s safety and behavioral standards.
Communicate effectively with students, parents and other professionals as required.
Comply with security procedures, including attendance, headcount, pick‑up and emergency procedures to ensure child safety.
Assist in preparing program materials as needed.
Maintain current and accurate records per program policy.
Collaborate with peers to improve the work environment and program effectiveness.
Assist in cleaning, straightening room and equipment during, before and after the program each day.
Maintain confidentiality of student and institutional information.
Excellent organizational and human‑relations skills.
Self‑motivated and reliable.
Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective relationships with the principal, parents, staff and the public.
Capable of handling moderate levels of stress.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong customer‑service focus (internal and external).
Ethical and discreet team‑player.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a role model for professionalism within a Catholic environment.
Support the school’s philosophy, policies and goals as well as decisions made by the Principal and administrators.
Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all students.
Adhere to all policies and procedures in the parent/student handbook and employee handbook.
Work as part of a team.
Attend faculty, administrative and other meetings as required.

EDUCATION AND/OREXPERIENCE:
High school diploma.
Course credit in child development (preferred).
Previous experience supervising children.
Training sufficient to perform tasks assigned by the Principal and/or Extended Care Manager.
SKILLS:
Excellent written and oral communication skills that can effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
English – required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese) – preferred.
SKILLS:
First Aid and CPR certified.
Proficient with word processing, presentations and e‑mail applications.
Experience with school information systems (SIS).
Working knowledge of Workday, or willingness to learn.
Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications.
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, repetitive motions, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, stretching, twisting.
Can lift 10 pounds complying with safety standards.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Exposure to climate change and temperature handled.
Operate standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, PCs, telephone and alarm system.
Visual, auditory and speaking requirements met.
Required to work before and/or after-school schedule.
Understanding and acceptance for the mission of the Catholic Church.
Support the teachings and values of the Catholic Church and its mission.
$23.57 – $27.30 USD depending on experience.
