Registered Dental Assistant-- SHADC

Overview

We are seeking a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our dental team under the supervision of the Dental Director and staff dentists. The RDA will assist with patient care, sterilization, operatory preparation, and administrative support while ensuring compliance with OSHA and infection control standards. This role is vital to the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Dental Department in a fast-paced, community health clinic environment.

• Assist dentists during procedures and patient care.
• Perform sterilization and prepare operatories according to infection control guidelines.
• Coordinate clinic flow, dental equipment maintenance, and operatory readiness.
• Collaborate with the Dental Receptionist and provide front desk support when needed.
• Inventory and order dental materials and supplies with approval.
• Perform all RDA functions as directed by the Dental Director.
• Carry out specialized duties if certified (e.g., sealants, coronal polishing).
• Adhere to OSHA requirements, including infection control and hazardous waste management.
• Participate in department safety meetings and maintain compliance with Bloodborne Pathogens Policy.
• Ensure punctuality and preparedness for dental procedures.
• Maintain accurate dental charts and records.
• Support overall smooth functioning of the Dental Department.
• Follow guidelines outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dental Director.

• Education denoting specialized knowledge of dental practices, procedures, and terminology.
• X-ray license (mandatory).
• Coronal polishing certificate required; if not an RDA, must work toward attaining licensure.
• At least one-year internship in dental assisting and one year of professional experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to interact with diverse populations.
• Sensitivity to healthcare needs and culture of American Indians and minority communities.
• Ability to supervise staff and collaborate effectively with co-workers.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask administrative functions accurately.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Publisher, and Photoshop.
• Valid California Driver License, automobile insurance, and clean driving record.

• Experience working in nonprofit health organizations.
• Prior work in community health or with American Indian populations.
• Knowledge of office systems and familiarity with electronic health records.
• Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 year
