Nurse Assistant

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a Registered or Licensed Vocational Nurse, provide basic nursing care and implement selected aspects of the patient's nursing plan of care.
• Provide care/service to an acutely ill through rehabilitating patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
• Follow appropriate Code Blue notification procedures.
• Participate in all regulatory education and survey activities.
• Effectively prioritize clinical interventions and care.
• Perform basic hygiene and nursing care activities such as feeding, bathing, oral care, positioning, ambulating, and bed linen changes.
• Implement patient safety measures (e.g., vital sign measurement, intake and output, obtaining/transporting specimens).
• Feed patients with swallowing difficulties following individual guidelines and orders from a speech therapist.
• Apply restraint devices following all requirements for use and documentation.
• Provide non‑sterile dressings and binders, and perform oral care as needed.
• Obtain necessary training prior to initial equipment use and ensure equipment is in operating order prior to use.
• Use equipment according to manufacturer’s operating instructions, including blood pressure measurement devices, thermometers, scales, skin pressure relieving devices, traction/immobilizers/CPM, pulse oximetry, bedside scales, and chair scales.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese) preferred.
• State of California Nursing Assistant Certification.
• RNA program certification required within 90 days.
• Current BLS Card required.
