Under the supervision of the Tennis Coordinator and the Director of Healthy Living, the Tennis Instructor provides instruction in one‑on‑one, semi‑private, and group settings. The role involves developing and leading tennis programs that align with participants’ goals and skill levels while promoting an engaging and positive environment. The Tennis Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction, supporting skill development, and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
Job Responsibilities- Program Administration & Record‑Keeping:
Maintain attendance, progress reports, and lesson schedules (Mind Body software). Submit accurate payroll records (ADP procedures). - Instruction &
Coaching:
Conduct structured tennis lessons for participants of all skill levels. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive values. - Facility & Equipment Management:
Prepare courts and equipment before sessions. Inspect and maintain courts for safety and accessibility. Report any damage or safety concerns promptly. - Participant Engagement & Community Building:
Foster a welcoming and supportive environment. Encourage engagement from participants and families. Identify potential volunteers for program support. - Communication &
Collaboration:
Effectively communicate program schedules and additional opportunities. Stay informed about YMCA SF resources to provide accurate information. Collaborate with staff and departments to enhance the member experience.
The work environment is both indoor and outdoor, with activities conducted in varying weather conditions. The role may require adapting to different programming needs and schedules, including individual, semi‑private, and group lessons. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds. Flexibility is essential to work in various weather conditions and to lead lessons for individuals and larger group settings.

The Tennis Coordinator position offers a compensation range of $30.00 – $65.00 per hour. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
