Overview

We seek passionate and committed part-time Youth Tennis or Pickleball Coaches in San Francisco for the Fall 2025 Season. No previous coaching experience is required – we train all coaches. Make a positive difference by coaching youth tennis and pickleball after-school programs. Our upcoming season runs from August – December 2025 (must be available for the entire season). Time commitment is 3–10 hours per week, depending on how many classes you teach, and you must have an availability window of Monday and Thursday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm for classes.

You must have your own vehicle to transport ANTS-provided equipment to Monday’s class. We provide all training, equipment, and support. ANTS partner schools and communities are located across Oakland, Alameda, San Leandro, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek. Classes will run at community parks, tennis courts, and elementary schools.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a fun and safe weekly tennis or pickleball practice for kids ages 5–10
  • Teach the FUNdamentals of tennis and/or pickleball through a cohesive and game-filled lesson plan. Training provided!
  • Ensure a safe and reliable program by arriving on time each week for the entire season
  • Attend an orientation training in person
  • Interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff
  • Set up before and clean up after your program
  • Transport all coaching equipment to/from class each week
Requirements
  • Transportation:
    Reliable transportation to coaching sites; having a vehicle is very helpful for equipment transport
  • Responsible and professional:
    Arrive on time to each practice and maintain accurate attendance; interact positively with parents and school staff
  • Communication:
    Strong communication skills; you will communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff via email and phone
  • Enthusiastic and fun:
    Positive role models who support sportsmanship, wellness, and positivity
  • Patience:
    Ability to work with young children and support development at their own pace
  • Experience:

    Experience as a player or coach (at least two years) is valuable but optional
  • Background check:
    Must pass a Federal and state background check and/or FBI fingerprinting (Livescan) and test negative for TB (within the last 4 years)
