Position Description

The Varsity Swimming Assistant Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for supporting the swimming team. The position assists the head Varsity coach with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The role also helps foster appreciation for physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in lacrosse. The position requires travel and work on weekends and evenings.

Season salary $16.50/hr with a minimum guarantee of $4,784.00.

Work Requirements

The Assistant Swimming Coach must exhibit high standards of professionalism and communication, be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and enjoy the challenges of working with high school students. The coach must have the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff under pressure while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. This person must support the value of an education.

Responsibilities
  • Help coordinate and supervise the Varsity Swimming program.
  • Ensure that Branson and League policies, rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletic activities and athletes are followed.
  • Work with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to plan and organize practices and game schedules.
  • Maintain a safe environment for student athletes at all times.
  • Help ensure regular supervision of student athletes at home and away games and ensure appropriate behavior.
  • Ensure that student athletes adhere to training rules, class and grade requirements, and rules of behavior on the court, in conditioning, and in the locker room.
  • Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials. Resolve all conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Professionally represent Branson in all interactions with the community at large.
  • Ensure the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Make recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies; also manage inventory.
  • Maintain necessary records and complete Paycom timecard within the specified time frames and manner.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
  • Attend work regularly and be punctual to all practices and games.
  • Obtain advance approval from the Athletic Director for all team‑related expenditures.
  • Manage other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • One to two years of experience as a swimming coach.
  • CPR Certified through the American Red Cross.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Experience working and communicating with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to act professionally and keep students’ records confidential.
  • Ability to make decisions and handle conflicts.
  • Problem‑solving skills and creativity.
Physical Requirements
  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
