Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong backend and API expertise who can also serve as a technical bridge between US based and Japan based engineering teams. This role is ideal for a bilingual (Japanese/English) engineer who enjoys architecture, system design, and technical documentation, and who can help ensure technical intent, context, and design decisions are clearly understood across teams.

While this is a hands‑on engineering role, you will do much more than simply coding. The emphasis is on backend systems, shared components, API depth, and clear technical communication across Android, iOS, and web platforms in a global development environment. You will lead and participate in API design discussions, technical reviews, and architectural decision making and create and maintain design documents, system diagrams, and API documentation.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience supporting Node.js and Typescript across Web products in a mixed Mobile ecosystem
• Professional fluency in Japanese and English spoken and written
• Technical bridge between US based and Japan based engineering teams, helping translate not just language, but technical context, intent, and design rationale
• Deep understanding of API design, system architecture, and distributed systems
• Ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation and design specs via Jira and Confluence
• Strong communication skills and comfort navigating differences in technical vocabulary and engineering culture

USD $45–50 per hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
