The mission of Speechify is to make sure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 50 million people use Speechify’s text‑to‑speech products to turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio, enabling faster, more expansive, and more memorable reading. Speechify’s offerings include an iOS app, Android app, Mac app, Chrome extension, and Web app.

Today, nearly 200 people from a distributed workforce build front‑end, back‑end, AI research, and product platforms  engineering team includes talent from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Stripe, Vercel, Bolt, and many founders from successful startups.

The Platform team builds and maintains all back‑end services: payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text‑to‑speech, and external APIs. In parallel, the Data side of the AI team designs and operates the end‑to‑end data pipeline that fuels model training at petabyte scale. Leveraging GCP, Terraform, Docker, and efficient data‑processing workflows, we create high‑quality datasets at low cost.

• Scrape and source new audio data, and ingest it into our pipeline.
• Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure that runs the ingestion pipeline on GCP.
• Collaborate closely with our scientists to improve cost, throughput, and data quality, enabling richer data at larger scale.
• Work with AI team members and leadership to craft the dataset roadmap that drives Speechify’s next‑generation products.

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Proficiency with Bash/Python scripting in Linux environments.
• Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure‑as‑Code concepts; professional experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP).
• Experience with web crawlers and large‑scale data‑processing workflows is a plus.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
