About Lean In & The Sandberg Bernthal Family Foundation

The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation (SGBFF) works to build a more equal and resilient world. We bring people together to support each other through four initiatives:
Lean In.Org, Lean In Girls .Org, Option

B.Org, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program.

Through our community, research-based content, and programs, we help women and allies build the skills, confidence, and networks they need to reach their full potential. We believe a more equal world is possible - and that it will take us working together to create it. While the majority of your work will focus on Lean In, this role offers the opportunity to drive impact across multiple mission-driven initiatives.

Role Overview

We're seeking a highly independent, self-motivated Full Stack Software Engineer to build and maintain the technical infrastructure that powers our digital platforms. You'll work across the entire stack—from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems and databases—taking ownership of features from concept to deployment. This role is perfect for someone who thrives with autonomy and can drive projects forward without constant oversight.

What

You’ll Do
  • Design, develop, and deploy full stack features across our website and community platforms
  • Build responsive, accessible front-end experiences using modern web technologies
  • Develop scalable back-end services, APIs, and database architectures
  • Take end-to-end ownership of technical projects, from technical design to production release

Identify opportunities to strengthen our platforms and proactively propose thoughtful solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that meets high engineering standards
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the full application stack
  • Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, and designers to translate user needs into technical solutions
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and security across our systems
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and help shape engineering best practices
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements that support long-term impact
What You Will Bring
  • 3+ years of full stack software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency across both front-end and back-end development
  • Front-end experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, etc.), HTML5, and CSS3
  • Back-end experience with server-side languages (Python, Node.js, Ruby, Java, etc.) and building RESTful APIs
  • Experience working with SQL and No

    SQL databases
  • Comfort working independently and driving projects forward with minimal direction
  • A self-starter mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of web security best practices and performance optimization
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • A deep commitment to Lean In’s mission to inspire and equip women to lead
  • Alignment with the Sandberg Bernthal Family Foundation’s initiatives, including building resilience and driving social impact
What We Will Offer You
  • Base Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 based on experience, skills, and qualifications
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 15% of base salary annually
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with a 4% employer match
  • Generous paid time off
  • Additional benefits designed to support well-being and long-term success
