Technical Lead API Management Digital Platform – The Technical Lead/SSE for API will lead a delivery team with responsibility for API enablement of eCommerce features of the Digital Platform. The ideal candidate will have deep understanding and hands-on experience in API enablement of software platforms at an industrial scale. You will own the technical design and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive API and management platform to enable the organization to be more agile.

You will improve team agility through coaching and implementing best practices for development, automated testing, automated deployment, and API Management best practices.

The successful candidate will have a background in enabling customer facing experiences via APIs, strong technical ability, excellent communication skills, and motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You will work with all delivery channels to ensure that the API is comprehensive, scalable, and secure while driving visibility to metrics for effective use of the API and underlying platform. You will be responsible for the soundness of designs by collaborating with the team and mediating architecture decisions.

You will help software engineers resolve technical problems and provide guidance and coaching to grow the team’s technical delivery capability.

• Hands-on technical leadership of software engineers focused on API enablement, technical architecture, design, development, and delivery
• Ensure extensibility, supportability, performance, and scalability of the Digital Platform by exposing platform functionality via REST API and the associated API management platform
• Ensure reliability, security, availability, and operational visibility into the API platform
• Drive technical approach for the REST API along with estimation of effort and hands-on leadership to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of features
• Hands-on design and development of the REST API along with a technical lead role on the full development cycle for API, including leading code/design reviews and architectural choices
• Technical mentoring to improve the analytical and technical skills of team members

• Prior success leading the API enablement of customer-facing retail ecommerce solutions using an API gateway (e.g., Mule Soft, Apigee) is required
• Highly experienced technical lead with experience in defining the API and management platform needs to expose data & services in a channel-agnostic manner
• Experience industrializing APIs by enabling security, usage tracking, operational visibility/reporting, implementing QoS/SLAs, high availability, etc.
• Strong experience in Java-based REST API development for highly scalable, customer-facing commerce web applications (native, mobile web, desktop)
• Experience with JSON, XML, unit testing (JUnit, Mockito, etc.), Maven, GIT, and hands-on work across the full web application stack
• Knowledge of application development lifecycle, API best practices, and automation
• Significant technical experience as software developer, software development lead, technical lead, technical architect, or related role
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 10+ years in software engineering and 5+ in a technical lead capacity
