Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer
"
Partnering with a San Francisco–based startup to help them hire a Product Engineer. They're building what they describe as the Cursor for Firmware. They’re part of Y Combinator’s S25 batch and are building a developer platform that dramatically speeds up firmware generation, testing, and debugging.
Their users are firmware engineers, hardware designers, and systems architects working across semiconductors, robotics, automotive, and IoT. The team is small, highly technical, and focused on bringing modern developer experience to embedded systems – turning weeks of low-level bring‑up into minutes.
This role sits at the intersection of product, systems engineering, and developer tooling. You’d own features end‑to‑end, from working directly with embedded engineers to understand real pain points, through to building solutions across a web platform, CLI, backend services, and core firmware generation logic. It’s a product‑shaping role rather than a narrow implementation position.
They’re looking for someone with strong full‑stack fundamentals (Type Script/React/Node or similar) who has also shipped real systems or firmware code in C/C++ – microcontrollers, embedded Linux, or other constrained environments. Experience with developer tools, infrastructure, or edge/embedded systems is particularly relevant.
The team works onsite in San Francisco and offers competitive compensation with meaningful equity.
