Responsibilities

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will build new and exciting components and frameworks for distributed file systems to provide scale and efficiency in an ever‑growing market. You will develop high‑quality, production‑ready code used by millions of users on our cloud platform, build efficient components and algorithms in a multi‑tenant SaaS cloud distributed file system environment, perform code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance to the team.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 7+ years of software development experience with mastery of one or more programming languages and platforms, deep knowledge of object‑oriented programming, and strong cyc?

SQL skills.

• Experience with developing SaaS products over public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale.

• Proficiency in queues, locks, scheduling, event‑driven architecture, and workload distribution, plus a deep understanding of relational and non‑relational databases.

• Strong understanding of software development best practices and demonstrated leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Big Data/ML and S3, and hands‑on experience with streaming technologies like Kafka.

• Experience with Elastic Search.

• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker. uccess

Compensation and Benefits

In the United States, compensation offered will be determined by location, job level, knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and benefits. Salesforce offers a variety of benefits, including time‑off programs, medical, dental, vision, mental health support, paid parental leave, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and an employee stock purchasing program. Standard base salary ranges for this position are $143,300–$216,700 annually, with slightly higher ranges in select cities in the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas.

The base salary does not include company bonuses, incentives, equity, or benefits.
