Founding Mobile Engineer

Searchability is partnering with a stealth consumer AI startup that has recently raised significant early funding from top-tier investors. This is a rare opportunity to join the founding engineering team and own the end-to-end mobile experience for a next-generation, video-first social platform powered by AI.

We are looking for a Founding Senior Mobile Engineer with 6+ years of experience (5+ in mobile) and a strong track record building and scaling consumer-facing mobile applications.

What You’ll Do

Own the Mobile Product

• Architect, build, and own a world-class mobile application from the ground up.

• Create a high-performance, video-first interface connecting millions of users to advanced AI systems.

Lead End-to-End Development

• Drive the full lifecycle: technical scoping, system design, implementation, testing, and release.

• Collaborate with a founding team of elite engineers to ship features rapidly and at high quality.

React Native + Native Integrations

• Build in React Native, while leveraging Swift, Kotlin, and Java for native modules when required.

• Engineer a seamless mobile experience optimized for real-time video and AI-powered features.

Scale a Consumer Mobile App

• Architect a robust, scalable mobile infrastructure capable of supporting millions of users and top App Store rankings.

• Set engineering standards, influence technical strategy, and help shape the overall product direction.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor other engineers and help define best practices for code quality, performance, and maintainability.

• Play a foundational role in shaping engineering culture at an extremely early stage.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years focused on mobile.

• Expertise in React Native and proficiency with iOS/Android native languages (Swift, Kotlin/Java).

• Demonstrated experience building and scaling consumer mobile applications (ideally with large user bases).

• Strong architectural skills and ability to design high-performance systems.

• Comfortable shipping quickly in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.

• Must be onsite 5+ days/week in San Francisco (South Park area).

• Visa sponsorship not available.

Bonus Points

• Experience in consumer social, video/real-time streaming, gaming, or other high-engagement consumer apps.

• Prior early-stage startup or founding team experience.

Compensation

• Equity: 1–5%

• Direct compensation range is provided by the posting and may be discussed with the recruiter. Additional perks include daily meals, in-office setup, and transportation support.
