About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive the development of new networking products tailored for seamless integration into our systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of distributed systems, edge networking, product development, and operational execution. You will design and develop new features for our software-defined network, from early requirements through field deployment.

You will be delivering new networking solutions in Somewear’s communication portfolio that are designed to be part of the everyday kit used by elite operators.

What You'll Do

• Work as part of a small team of engineers to build a product that is new to the world and push the boundaries of software-defined networking.

• Lead the design and implementation of networking features in our control plane, relay infrastructure, and networking protocols.

• Work directly with customers' technical teams to deploy and maintain Somewear in their operations.

• Relentlessly improve performance, reliability, and scalability of our networking stack.

• Design and implement security-first networking systems to help keep our nation’s service members safe.

What We're Seeking

• 5+ years in networking, distributed systems, or systems engineering type roles.

• Proficient in Rust, with a proven track record of building and deploying production-quality software.

• Deep understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, routing, NAT traversal, and VPN technologies.

• Experience with distributed systems, particularly those involving real-time communication and high availability.

• Knowledgeable of Unix & Windows systems, networking concepts, and security best practices.

• Capable of taking ownership and bringing an idea from conception to production.
