Overview

Software Engineering Manager, Account Services s role leads the Account Services Team responsible for building and maintaining account services at massive, multi-million user scale, and ensures secure, reliable sign-up, login, and profile management services across web, mobile, living room devices, and game consoles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Account Services Team responsible for building and maintaining account services at massive, multi-million user scale.

• Oversee the development and operation of secure, reliable sign-up, login, and profile management services—the “front door” to our ecosystem.

• Ensure seamless user experiences across multiple platforms (web, mobile, living room devices, game consoles).

• Drive technical excellence, scalability, and security in all account-related services to support Crunchyroll fans worldwide.

• Report to the VP of Service Monetization. This is a hybrid position based 3 days a week in our Los Angeles or San Francisco offices.

About You / Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 10+ years of engineering in building cloud-native applications with a strong backend and microservices focus.

• 3+ years of experience in managing engineering teams.

• Proficiency in Type Script, Go, Java, Python, and experience with modern frameworks and technologies.

• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native applications.

• Ability to weigh technical tradeoffs to maximize impact and define product roadmaps with long-term goals.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners.

A Day in the Life

• Lead and mentor engineers to promote best practices, architectural standards, and scalability in a collaborative, high-performance environment.

• Manage day-to-day engineering operations, including scrum ceremonies (grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives).

• Define and execute the development roadmap with product and leadership to align with business objectives and customer needs.

• Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, incorporate feedback, and communicate project progress.

• Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery.

• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings for feedback and career development; monitor performance and productivity and implement improvements.

• Stay informed about industry standards, security practices related to subscriptions and payments.

• Partner with Dev Ops and other engineering managers to improve deployments and monitoring of cloud-native applications.

• Participate in hiring and onboarding to attract top talent.

Pay Range: $200,000—$250,000 USD (San Francisco, CA). Actual pay varies by location, experience, and performance. This range is one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings.
