Job Summary
The overall goal of the research project is to aid in the development and application of novel agents to alleviate the burden of congenital heart defects, pulmonary hypertension and birth asphyxia using large animal models.

University Professional Technical Employees – Research Support Professionals Unit (UPTE-RX).
- Routine pre-, peri- and post-operative animal care, including documentation.
- Assist with all large animal procedures.
- Record keeping, data acquisition, and sample collection and processing during large animal surgery.
- Order supplies, ship samples, and prepare surgical equipment and spaces.
- Training will be provided.
- BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge/experience in large animal experimental studies: monitoring anesthesia, IV catheter insertion.
- Computer proficiency, experience with Excel, and database management proficiency.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques: preparation of buffers, serial dilutions, chemical weighing and handling.
- Knowledge of pre- and post-operative care of large animals.
- Experience with database and statistical software.
