Sales Associate/Material Handler – South San Francisco (Part‑Time, 20–29 Hours/Week)

Pay Rate: $18.07 per hour.

About the Organization: The Salvation Army Southern California Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no‑fee program that assists men and women in completing our rehabilitation program. The organization values the dedication of its employees and depends on their diligence and devotion.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to operate a POS/cash register.
• Must pass a background check, which includes criminal history and sex offender registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, cabinets, dressing carts, merchandise carts, rolling racks, furniture dollies, platform trucks, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
• Ability to operate a telephone.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and donors and provide prompt, courteous assistance.
• Stock priced items and ensure they are merchandised on the sales floor per Salvation Army standards.
• Sort donations according to property guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining store cleanliness and organization, performing cleaning duties as directed by management.
• Maintain assigned department per TSA merchandising standards.
• Adhere to POS/cash register policies and safety standards, reporting hazards or problems.
• Attend required monthly store meetings and follow dress code and HR policies.
• Work flexible shifts, including evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory accurately and efficiently.
• Inspect products for defects and damages, ensuring quality assurance.
• Assist donors with removal of donated items from vehicles and provide receipts.
• Separate and sort donated material into appropriate containers and stack as instructed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Schedule: Our stores operate 7 days per week. Part‑time associates may be scheduled for any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure adequate coverage.
