Steward​/Dishwasher- Part Time

Overview

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Culinary Management Team, the Steward/Dishwasher ensures a clean and workable kitchen area by scraping and washing dishes, pots, pans, plates, glasses, flatware, service ware and miscellaneous items by hand and/or the dishwashing machine. Wash, sanitize, and store all dishes, flatware, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, and cutting boards for food service; clean and maintain all equipment and dish machine;

take all trash to the designated area; clean all trash receptacles and replace trash bags; sweep and mop designated areas; and complete other special cleaning projects as assigned.

This is a Part Time position and must be flexible to work morning or evening shifts.

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
• Perform all duties assigned by managing Chefs in a timely and professional manner.
• Alert managing Chefs of any breakage and/or missing equipment.
• Immediately report any unsafe and/or unacceptable occurrences to managing Chefs.
• Check the dish machine daily/nightly and report any concerns to managing Chefs.
• Have workstation ready for service before service time; ensure all chemicals, gloves, tools, and protective wear are stocked.
• Wipe up water spills, food stains and dirt from tables as needed.
• Handle cleaning of the dining area at the close of day.
• Comply with and enforce all safety and health department procedures as well as Hotel Zoe and/or departmental policies/procedures, including all state and federal laws.

This position requires exemplary organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Attention to detail is necessary to clean and maintain equipment and work areas according to in-house, local, state and federal regulations for safety and sanitation. A restaurant steward must have mechanical skills to operate electric machines such as dishwashers and sanitizers.

• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
• Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps.
• Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold), variable noise levels, and around chemicals.

• High school graduate or equivalent education preferred.
• High-end restaurant experience in hotels a plus.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

$22.22 per hour
