Overview
Algen is a biotechnology company pioneering next-generation therapies using advanced CRISPR gene modulation and AI-driven drug discovery. A spin-out from the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Dr. Jennifer Doudna, Algen was founded at the forefront of gene modulation innovation. Working as a team at the intersection of functional genomics and AI, the candidate will play a critical role in advancing our discovery programs.
Responsibilities- Design and execute human relevant experiments in cultured primary immune cells
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data science, business development, and functional genomics teams to identify therapeutic strategies and opportunities currently lacking in the clinic.
- Support therapeutic development by performing, adapting and innovating biochemical and cellular assays.
- Provide a growth mindset: independently develop scientific hypotheses and explore or adapt new technologies/assays to contribute to Algen’s development and goals.
- Lead and mentor peers in matters of autoimmunity and inflammation.
- Present findings and analysis to support internal decisions, contribute to preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and patent filings.
- Senior Scientist role will direct pipeline projects to achieve key milestones and goals to develop novel therapeutics. Principal Scientist role will additionally mentor research associates and be responsible for communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Senior Scientist:
PhD in Immunology, Biology, or related field with 3+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience. - Principal Scientist:
PhD in Immunology or related discipline with 6+ years of industry or equivalent experience. - Deep understanding of current clinical landscape for autoimmune disorders and molecular pathways underlying them
- Extensive hands-on experience in cellular and molecular immunology
- Ability to lead independent, hypothesis-driven, biological research
- Strong communication skills and willing to work in a collaborative environment
- Experience and knowledge in inflammatory diseases
- Experience with genetic manipulations, particularly in primary or immune cell types
- Experience with descriptive and/or functional genomics approaches
- Experience working in fast-paced, early-stage or highly innovative research environments preferred.
- Deep expertise in immunology with a strong publication and/or drug discovery track record.
