Position: RN Unit Supervisor (LTC or STC)

Position Summary

The primary role of the RN Unit Supervisor is to provide support to the Director of Post Acute Care by organizing and implementing nursing care strategies for the delivery of efficient and effective care. RN Unit Supervisor ensures the care provided is consistent with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. This position is responsible for ensuring that high quality care is delivered to all residents/patients of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support in the development, implementation, and goals of the assigned unit(s).
  • Participate in unit specific Quality Assurance and Improvement Activities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement. Initiate Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) as directed.
  • Oversee the provision of appropriate medications, treatments and general nursing services according to the resident’s/patient’s care plan and physician‑directed orders.
  • Adhere to local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Help prepare the unit(s) for the annual California Department of Public Health (CDPH) survey, resulting in no preventable significant citations from CDPH. When needed, help create Plan of Correction (POCs), Informal Dispute Resolutions (IDRs), etc.
  • Provide coverage as needed related to staffing needs.
  • Support Director of STC in monitoring staff performance.
  • Support Director of STC in hiring staff, in the orientation of new employees, and ongoing education of assigned staff.
  • Assist in monitoring adequate staffing levels to allow admission without interruption, as well as the prevention of the facility from falling below required staffing ratios.
  • Assist in monitoring staff breaks, missed punches, overtime, and schedule each shift.
  • Develop a strong and cohesive Nursing Team that practices strong inter‑departmental collaboration, as well as act as role model and lead by example.
  • Serve on various committees including, but not limited to:
    Psychotropics, Falls, Safety, Skin, Weight, QAPI, RTA/Transfers, Infection Control, etc.
  • Conduct clinical investigations and timely reporting of all unusual occurrences and adverse events to the Director of LTC/Post‑Acute Care and CNO.
  • Outreach in relations to families regarding care concerns.
  • Collaborate with other members of leadership to maintain a culture/environment that practices quality customer service, and service recovery when needed.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
