Overview

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification  positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

The Adult Medicine Unit is a 34 bed inpatient medical unit that provides care for patients ranging from young adults to the elderly presenting with a wide variety of diagnoses. The unit has the ability to admit patients requiring telemetry and/or continuous pulse oximetry. Patients admitted here often have acute exacerbations of complex chronic conditions with a focus on pulmonary, gastrointestinal, medical-psychological, and endocrine conditions.

The unit administers chemotherapy to treat solid tumor patients admitted to the hospital with an emphasis on treating sarcoma patients. There is an innovative palliative care service with two dedicated Comfort Care Suites for terminally-ill patients. The nurse plays an integral role in the Palliative Care team which includes Attending physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, social workers and chaplain services.

Nurses on this unit attend education in End-of-Life Care and complete Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Certification after approximately 6 months to a year on the unit. Medicine nurses participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds with various care team members.

• Two years of recent adult medical-surgical clinical RN experience in an acute care hospital.
• Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR certification
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
• Multisystem assessment skills essential to pain management, pulmonary and cardiovascular assessment, and management of fluid and electrolyte imbalance
• This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

• BSN
• Recent clinical experience in an academic medical center

Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California;
Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
