Positions may be located throughout DPH in Ambulatory Care settings listed on the Ambulatory Care Area Table. The list from this recruitment may be used to fill Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Care positions for the next six months. Current known vacancy includes, but is not limited to:
- Population Health Division’s Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Prevention Program — This position supervises nurses and health workers and helps oversee clinical operations at San Francisco City Clinic, the municipal STI clinic.

The Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Care performs the following essential job functions:
- Directs and manages nursing care on assigned units during unit operating hours.
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care using patient outcomes data.
- Provides clinical leadership within the institution.
- Provides the framework for planning, directing, coordinating, providing, and improving care, treatment and services to respond to community and patient needs.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and critical thinking skills to plan and problem-solve; collaborates with the unit-based Interdisciplinary Team.
- Ensures unit compliance with regulatory standards; represents nursing and primary care in meetings and committees.
- Maintains a patient-centered philosophy which respects the autonomy, dignity and rights of patients and their families.
- Ensures staff coverage for clinic operations for the unit using staffing systems.
The 2322 Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Care performs related duties as required.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university in Nursing, Nursing Administration or a closely related field
- Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in a general acute care hospital, ambulatory clinic, or community/public health setting
- Positions in Population Health Division require the following Special Condition: 12 months of Communicable Diseases Experience
Substitution:
Two (2) years of additional experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse in a general acute care hospital may be substituted for the educational requirement.
Applicants must meet the minimum qualification by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours; overtime hours are not included in the calculation.
