Position Summary

The Clinical RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibilities and accounts for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides therapeutic and safe care to patients using the nursing process of individualized patient/client assessment, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. The RN is responsible and accountable for nursing care delivered to their assigned patients by LVNs, HAs and others.

Professional duties include patient teaching, staff development, delegation, supervision, coordination, and patient advocacy. The RN will demonstrate competency and commitment in achieving organizational and nursing department goals, as outlined in the RN Behavior List and Competency Checklist.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Complies with CHA Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations and guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations.
  • Practices Chinese Hospital service philosophy standards and promotes positive, supportive work relationships with all members of the workforce.
  • Demonstrates positive behavior and performs ongoing clinical assessment of patients, establishing and implementing a plan of care and evaluating outcomes using the specific nursing practice process.
  • Delivers high quality patient care founded on established nursing standards, emphasizing education, practice skills and clinical competence.
  • Delegates care delivery, motivates staff and maintains high standards exemplifying the mission, vision and values of Chinese Hospital.
  • Maintains attendance and punctuality standards consistently.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment and ensures safe conduct in all aspects of job performance.
  • Formulates care plans based on assessment and information obtained from patient, family and team members; reviews and revises discharge goals and plans daily.
  • Delivers care per plan of care in accordance with Policy and Procedures, Standards of Care, the Registered Nurse Practice Act, Bloodborne Pathogens/Infection Control Standard, and other professional standards.
  • Communicates and accurately documents all nursing care delivered in the patient’s medical record.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments per approved standards and protocols.
  • Assesses, plans, teaches and provides patients/families necessary knowledge and skills to address deficits.
  • Participates in PI activities on the nursing unit.
  • Provides general nursing care addressing personal, hygienic, comfort and safety needs.
  • Registers vital signs and completes other assessments as needed.
  • Assists in delivering food trays and feeding patients.
  • Greets and directs all visitors; answers calls promptly.
  • Assists in preparing unit, room or bed for admissions and reviews admission assessment.
  • Assists in preparation for discharge and/or post-mortem care.
  • Proficient in operating computer keyboard, patient call system, telephone copier, fax machine and addressograph.
  • Proficient in equipment used in the unit assignment.
  • Follows Hospital and Department policies including but not limited to Administrative Manual, Environment of Care, Human Resources, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance, Code of Ethics, etc.
  • Attends and participates in in-services, training, seminars, staff meetings, drills; reads all communications and materials.
  • Provides excellent customer service and compassion to patients, visitors and co-workers; seeks feedback and anticipates needs.
  • Communicates progress, problems, development and plans to manager and team; interacts positively with co-workers.
  • Accepts and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Currently licensed in California as a Registered Nurse.
  • Preferred:
    Six (6) months of Emergency nursing experience.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
