Under the leadership of the Community Services Coordinator, the YMCA Community Services Assistant will assist with our branch’sImmigrant
Support Center whichisfunded through Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development.
This position will also be supporting resident services and programming at Broadway Cove. Duties include planning and implementing recreational activities, checking in regularly with participants, providing and connecting resources and services, supporting community program events, supervision of participants, collecting participant feedback, and providing administrative support. The goal of the program is to engage, collaborate, and provide resources for families living in Chinatown SROs and the surrounding community.
Job Responsibilities Program Engagement & Participant Support- Develop and maintain positive relationships with program participants.
- Supervise and actively engage with youth during program activities.
- Provide resources, referrals, and ongoing support to families.
- Respond promptly and courteously to participant concerns or inquiries.
- Plan and implement weekly youth enrichment activities and family-focused social events.
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of monthly workshops.
- Assist with the coordination and execution of community program events.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, training, and management.
- Support program administrative tasks, including data collection, reporting, and grant-related documentation.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bilingual:
Must be able to read, write, and speak Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese). - Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, reliable, and highly organized.
- Ability to work effectively onsite and offsite as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in diverse settings, including community spaces and program sites.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs for program/event materials.
- Ability to stand, sit, and engage with participants for extended periods.
- Must successfully complete a background screening, including criminal and employment verification. Some positions may also require a credit check.

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00– $24.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
