Position Summary

The Mid‑Level Giving Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of current and prospective mid‑level members (defined as $1,000–$4,999), including cultivation, solicitation, and strategy as well as stewardship and data analysis. To expand donor capacity, engagement, and philanthropy, the Mid‑Level Giving Officer creates opportunities for donors and prospects to become engaged with KQED’s mission and to learn about organizational programs that align with their giving interests.

Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Mid‑Level Giving, this position also collaborates within the larger Mid‑Level and Membership teams, the Development team and with departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will be curious, independent and have experience with membership programs, development/fundraising, creating communication strategies and implementing stewardship. Attention to detail, strong project management skills, and experience with CRM systems and databases are key qualities for this position.

Strong phone, writing, and mail merge skills are critical. Familiarity with moves management, major gifts programs, public media fundraising and event‑planning is also highly desirable.

Mission

KQED provides citizens of Northern California with a community‑supported alternative to commercial media. We provide citizens with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions; convene community dialogue; bring the arts to everyone and engage audiences to share their stories. We help students and teachers thrive in 21st‑century classrooms, and take people of all ages on journeys of exploration—exposing them to new people, places and ideas.

This role will work hybrid between working at KQED’s newly renovated headquarters and working remotely.

Essential Functions
  • Manages a tiered portfolio of roughly 600 current and prospective mid‑level (and some major giving) members with planned touchpoints, prompt thanking and timely solicitations, with a premium placed on donor retention and increased giving.
  • Responsible for developing and achieving revenue goals associated with the portfolio, as well as forecasting portfolio revenue.
  • Manages relationships with prospective and current mid‑level members using multiple channels, including phone, email, personal mail, event participation, Zoom and face‑to‑face meetings, while also engaging donors through consistent stewardship and active cultivation to increase member support, achieve revenue goals and enhance the member experience.
  • Works closely with the Associate Director of Mid‑Level Giving, developing and implementing analysis on financial trends, key performance indicators (KPIs) and testing successes; ensures data‑driven decision making on current and future strategy to continuously strengthen relationships and increase revenue.
  • Updates the ROI Solutions database with donor touchpoints such as notes from calls, member interactions and emails or new/updated information about members.
  • Learns about KQED programs and projects and effectively communicates the work as well as KQED’s mission to donors.
  • Determines which donors would benefit from more personalization and increased frequency of contact.
