The seamster / seamstress is a skilled worker who operates sewing machines in a production setting. Their primary function is to efficiently sew large quantities of garments, apparel, or components.
Key Responsibilities- Operate industrial sewing machines designed for high speed and durability.
- Take measurements and create patterns.
- Sew and alter garments, uniforms, tablecloths, and packaging materials.
- Work with a variety of fabrics and materials.
- Manage inventory and order supplies.
- Provide excellent internal customer service.
- Fit garments on customers to determine how alterations should be performed.
- Meet production requirements by working efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Inspect work for defects or inconsistencies to maintain quality standards.
- Report quality issues to prevent defective items from moving forward.
- Perform basic machine maintenance such as changing needles, oiling moving parts, and identifying minor problems.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow safety procedures.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3–5 years of experience in volume environments as a seamstress or tailor.
- Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques.
- Ability to work under time constraints, independently and efficiently.
- Ability to safely use different types of sewing machines.
- Good hand–eye coordination.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- In‑depth knowledge of best practices and methods.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Aptitude for multitasking.
- Capacity to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team.
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 10–15 lbs, occasionally up to 30 lbs, rarely up to 50 lbs with assistance.

Additional InformationThis is a part‑time / hourly post located in South San Francisco. Attendance will be required in line with business requirements, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings, based on rotating scheduling.
