The seamster / seamstress is a skilled worker who operates sewing machines in a production setting. Their primary function is to efficiently sew large quantities of garments, apparel, or components.

• Operate industrial sewing machines designed for high speed and durability.
• Take measurements and create patterns.
• Sew and alter garments, uniforms, tablecloths, and packaging materials.
• Work with a variety of fabrics and materials.
• Manage inventory and order supplies.
• Provide excellent internal customer service.
• Fit garments on customers to determine how alterations should be performed.
• Meet production requirements by working efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Inspect work for defects or inconsistencies to maintain quality standards.
• Report quality issues to prevent defective items from moving forward.
• Perform basic machine maintenance such as changing needles, oiling moving parts, and identifying minor problems.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow safety procedures.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of experience in volume environments as a seamstress or tailor.
• Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques.
• Ability to work under time constraints, independently and efficiently.
• Ability to safely use different types of sewing machines.
• Good hand–eye coordination.
• Effective communication skills.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• In‑depth knowledge of best practices and methods.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Aptitude for multitasking.
• Capacity to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team.
• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling objects up to 10–15 lbs, occasionally up to 30 lbs, rarely up to 50 lbs with assistance.

This is a part‑time / hourly post located in South San Francisco. Attendance will be required in line with business requirements, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and evenings, based on rotating scheduling.
