Role Summary
Reporting to Gilead’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), the SVP and GM of ICR/GPS is responsible for setting the long-term strategy, planning, and execution within the assigned region, including geographic and Therapeutic Area analytics, growth and profitability strategies, differentiated location strategies, and key partnerships with public health agencies and distributors. This leader will work cross-functionally with the broader Gilead Commercial team and across Gilead/Kite and will be a member of the Commercial Leadership Team.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership:
Lead a complex and dynamic organization, analyze priorities, create and communicate vision and direction, monitor regional trends, markets, and competition, and adjust strategies as needed. - Organization/People Leadership:
Build a cohesive, geographically dispersed team and align with the commercial organization to enable effective partnerships internally and externally. - Distributor Management:
Oversee strategic and tactical management of distributors to facilitate market access, collaborating with Commercial, Finance, and Manufacturing teams. - Partnership Strategy:
Partner with country governments and stakeholders to develop targeted plans for high-priority markets; identify barriers to patient access and develop value propositions based on health economics data; create educational awareness programs.
- Depth of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, with leadership roles in the US and internationally.
- Previous full P&L responsibility and financial success as a GM (or GM-equivalent) across large markets or clusters/regions.
- Expertise in global product strategic planning, tactical marketing, commercial policies, new product planning, portfolio management, and lifecycle management.
- Proven general management capabilities with strong people leadership and the ability to lead change and build consensus across diverse teams and cultures.
- Global mindset and experience, including emerging markets and resource-limited countries; ability to navigate matrixed environments and influence from varying levels of priority.
- Track record of working with government/public agencies and health authorities.
- A leader of leaders with experience leading a global team and managing large-scale partnerships in complex, matrixed settings.
- Direct experience in strategic planning and strategic marketing in HIV, Hepatitis, cardiovascular (CV), and/or Oncology products is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- More than 18 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry; minimum 7 years with full P&L responsibility as a GM (or GM-equivalent) across large global markets.
- Location:
The preferred location for this position is Foster City, CA;
Stockley Park, UK is a secondary but less-preferred option. - Travel: 30–40% (minimum expectation: annual presence in each major market).
