ABOUT THE WOMEN’S CANCER RESOURCE CENTER (WCRC) The Women’s Cancer Resource Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women and nonbinary people residing in Alameda or Contra Costa County who have been diagnosed with cancer (as well as their support people), by providing compassionate, comprehensive programs and services that address emotional, physical, and practical needs. Our Emergency Financial Assistance support is available to people with cancer in our two counties, regardless of gender.
Mission Statement The Women’s Cancer Resource Center improves equitable access to cancer information, support and care. Vision
WCRC Service Area We envision a society in which everyone touched by cancer can access the medical care, education and support needed to ensure a maximum, positive quality of life. Our Values
Our work at WCRC is guided by our key values:
• Equity:
We use an equity lens when determining the optimum way to support clients and staff, and we ensure equity is at the center of decisions when determining how to best use our resources.
• Open and Transparent:
We ensure that decision makers are equipped with the information and skills that they need to contribute meaningfully, and we communicate significant shifts to staff, board, funders, and our clients in a timely and open manner.
• Continuously Improving:
When evaluating options we consider both short-term and long-term impact on staff and those we aim to serve. We determine points to check-in against our plans and assumptions, and we course correct as necessary. While we attend to urgent needs, we also plan for the future.
• Data Driven:
We believe in the importance of data to understand our clients’ needs and make decisions that consider both financial and programmatic impact. We continuously improve our data collection, protect our data and continue to use data to guide our path forward.
