About the RoleOur client, a fast‑growing construction company in the San Francisco Bay Area, is seeking an experienced Construction Controller/Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and maintain compliance across multiple projects. This role is onsite and requires deep expertise in construction accounting, certified payroll, job costing, and project financials
.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, job costing, billing, year end, taxes, negotiations and monthly close.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, cash flow projections, and budget-to-actual reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.
- Manage job cost structure, including tracking labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and change orders.
- Review and approve contracts, budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete analyses.
- Lead certified payroll administration
, including DIR submissions - Ensure proper reporting for union labor (if applicable), prevailing wage projects, and public works.
- Prepare for and support financial and labor audits.
- Supervise and develop accounting team members.
- Support executive leadership with financial insights to drive operational and strategic decisions.
- Work cross-functionally with HR, operations, and field teams.
- 6+ years of accounting experience
, with 3+ years directly in construction
. - Hands-on experience with certified payroll and public works projects
. - Proficiency with construction accounting software (Foundation or similar).
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco.
- Experience in union environments (benefit reporting, union labor compliance).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- High-impact leadership role supporting major Bay Area construction projects.
