Position Summary:

As a Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the tax department, managing client relationships, and providing strategic tax planning and advisory services. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth, with a clear path to becoming a partner in the firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality client service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Management:

    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on tax‑related matters.
    • Lead client engagements, including tax planning, compliance, and consulting services for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
    • Provide proactive tax planning and strategic advice to clients to minimize tax liabilities and maximize financial outcomes.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for clients.
    • Review and sign off on complex tax returns and other deliverables prepared by the tax team.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
    • Collaborate with other departments and partners to deliver integrated services to clients.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of the firm.
    • Participate in networking events, industry associations, and community activities to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.
    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract and retain clients.
  • Operational Excellence:

    • Oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of the tax department's operations, ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
    • Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance productivity and client satisfaction.
    • Manage budgets, billing, and profitability for the tax department.
Qualifications:
  • CPA license required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
  • Proven track record of managing client relationships and delivering exceptional client service.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Business development experience and a growth mindset.
