Automation Field Technician

Sweetgreen is on a mission to build healthier communities by connecting people to real food. The Automation Team is integrating our meal assembly automation – the Infinite Kitchen (IK) – into new and existing restaurants. We aim to improve daily routines for restaurant staff, optimize workflows, and enable an outstanding customer experience.

• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to perform preventative maintenance and field repairs on Infinite Kitchens in the field.
• Implement prescribed hardware upgrades to existing IKs.
• Work remotely with senior technicians, hardware, and software engineers on unique technical issues as they arise.
• Create, update, and maintain field repair reports/work tickets with relevant details (photos, videos, etc.).
• Plan autonomous work schedule for multiple locations within a given week.
• Build positive relationships with head coaches and team members at the stores within your region.
• Provide hands‑on training and oversight to head coaches on cleaning procedures and any changes to store team member SOPs.
• Provide feedback to automation team engineers based on field learnings and discoveries.
• Perform other tasks when not traveling, including:
  • Updating documentation and field maintenance reports
  • Assisting with creating and updating maintenance SOPs and training materials
  • Receiving and shipping parts

• 2 or more years of related work experience (e.g., Service Technician, Assembly Technician, Robotics Technician, Mechanic, Plumber, IT, HVAC, etc.)
• Flexible to travel and work around restaurant operating hours, including unexpected issues and occasional outside work hours.
• Experienced in troubleshooting complex mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Highly proficient with mechanical assemblies and hands‑on work.
• Basic electrical and plumbing proficiency.
• Proficient in digital tools such as Google Docs and Sheets; ability to learn new software quickly (e.g., Jira).
• Excellent communication, both in person and over the phone.
• High attention to detail, especially for documentation.
• Enthusiasm for a fast‑growing industry.
• Available to travel within the West Coast region up to 60% of the time.
• Familiar with hand tools, power tools, and volt/ohm meter usage.
• Capable of climbing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Clear communication in English.

Starting salary range based on experience: $83,000—$95,000 USD.
