About the role

This job is responsible for performing general‑purpose cleaning and restocking of materials of assigned areas inside a gym.

By fulfilling your role as a janitorial staff, you contribute to creating a positive and comfortable environment that enhances the overall gym experience for members, encouraging their ongoing commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

This is a full‑time position, working at least 30‑hours per week.

What you’ll do

• Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming gym and climbing area floors, ensuring they are free from debris, dirt, and hazards.
• Clean and disinfect gym equipment, machines, and weights to maintain a high level of hygiene and prevent the spread of germs.
• Clean and sanitize locker rooms, showers, and restrooms, replenishing supplies like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
• Clean outside, top and inside of gym lockers, placing lost and found items in the appropriate location.
• Empty trash receptacles regularly and ensure proper disposal of waste materials in accordance with established guidelines.
• Wipe and sanitize surfaces, including windows, mirrors, countertops, and seating areas, to maintain cleanliness and visual appeal.>
• Dust and clean surfaces in common areas, including reception desks, waiting areas, and hallways, to create a welcoming environment.
• Keep program rooms (yoga, spin, fitness) clean by mopping the floors, wiping down walls, windows and windowsills as needed and keeping shelves dusted and props neat and tidy.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report any shortages to the supervisor for timely restocking.
• Respond to immediate cleaning needs and spillages to prevent accidents or injuries, ensuring that the area is promptly cleaned and made safe.
• Follow established safety protocols and guidelines while handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment to ensure personal safety and prevent damage to property.
• Collaborate with other staff members to address maintenance issues, report damages, and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Must have the ability to bend, reach, grasp, and stand for extended periods of time.

Job Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, including the use of cleaning agents and equipment.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols related to cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Effective communication skills to interact with gym members and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous cleanliness of the facility.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push minimum 30 pounds (various equipment) and the ability to lift minimum 30 pounds (trash and supplies).
• Ability to go up and down stairs.
• Work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments.
• Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.
• Noise level, which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of ear plugs.

Travel

• Traveling to various work locations/ sites may be required.

Pay Scale

Starting Pay is $19.50 per hour. Janitorial Staff individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure.
