SUMMARY

The Senior Supply Chain Planner / Buyer is responsible for managing end‑to‑end supply planning, procurement, and material readiness with a strong emphasis on external manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers (CMs), and critical suppliers. This role ensures continuity of supply for prototype, clinical, and commercial medical device products by integrating demand, establishing robust supply plans, managing supplier performance, and coordinating material availability across the extended supply chain.

This role will partner closely with supply partners, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Regulatory, and Finance to align supply with demand, schedule adherence, and strengthen supplier capability for growth. This role will also serve as the operations owner of the ERP (e.g., Net Suite), improving data integrity, planning parameters, and end‑to‑end workflows.

PRIMARY

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate S&OP inputs and drive alignment between demand forecasts, supply, capacity, and material availability to support 12–18‑month rolling business plans

  • Conduct scenario planning and capacity modeling to anticipate constraints and ensure readiness for development, clinical, and commercial phases.

  • Monitor supplier lead times, yield assumptions, MOQ impacts, and procurement strategies to build stable plans and manage risk.

  • Translate forecast, engineering build plans, and project needs into schedules and supplier POs driving purchase order management to ensure on time finished good and material availability.

    • Engage with Engineering to ensure component specifications, inspection criteria, and acceptance requirements are clearly defined.

  • Lead day‑to‑day engagement with external supply partners, CMs, and critical suppliers to ensure capacity, material availability, and schedule adherence.

  • Coordinate weekly/monthly operational meetings with suppliers (production, quality, backlog review, escalations, MOR, Q , etc.).

  • Manage supplier commitments for delivery, quality, and lead‑time; drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives through KPIs (e.g. OTD, material availability, yields, lead-time, inventory turns, PPV, etc.).

  • Drive supplier compliance with Quality for agreements, including change control, inspection requirements, quality obligations, supplier audits, and ensure procurement documentation is complete.

  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and supply agreements; manage PPV and year‑over‑year cost improvement targets.

  • Optimize inventory strategies (safety stock, reorder points, min/max, planning horizons) for supplier‑driven environments.

  • Identify and mitigate exposure to long‑lead materials, supply disruptions, and single‑source risks.

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels across internal and external sites; manage slow‑moving / excess / obsolete (E&O) and execute disposition strategies.

  • Serve as a system owner and super‑user for operations including master data management / planning / purchasing modules (Net Suite or equivalent).

    • Participate in development and launch of ERP system

    • Own and manage MRP parameter governance (safety stock, lead time, lot size, planning horizons) and item master data for accuracy (item master, BOM structures, etc.)

    • Govern planning parameters, dashboards, and automated alerts to ensure accuracy and predictability.

  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline supply chain workflows, systems and eliminate waste.
