Overview
We are seeking a motivated person who values a positive and empowering work environment. As a Senior Legal Analyst in the Government Law Section, you will work under the direction of the Senior Assistant Attorney General in performing administrative, technical, and analytical work to support the Government Law Section's mission (which is to provide legal advice and representation to the State's constitutional officers and agencies on a wide range of issues).
The Senior Legal Analyst ensures that a wide range of administrative processes and requirements for the Section are timely satisfied. Among other things, specific duties include: independently reviewing and analyzing legal documents; drafting legal memoranda recommending courses of action to attorney; organizing and managing case files, investigative and discovery documents; arranging for and receiving service of process; identifying and interviewing witnesses and drafting witnesses declarations;
and assisting attorneys in work on ballot initiatives and election matters. The position requires substantial organizational skills, effective time management, clear written and oral communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and timely respond to emails.

This position requires exceptional organizational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work independently and effectively under strict time constraints with all levels of management and staff, and occasionally the general public. The ideal candidate is an innovative and creative thinker who possesses strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. The candidate should be well versed in a variety of computer programs including Excel, Power Point, Pro Law, and Word, and should be able to quickly and thoroughly learn other programs.
The candidate should be detail-oriented, possess good judgment, and maintain calm when high-pressure circumstances arise, responding quickly and thoroughly to deadlines. The candidate must maintain the utmost confidentiality and perform a range of duties that require tact, flexibility, and discretion. Some legal background is preferred but not a prerequisite.
