Litigation Paralegal
Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a national law firm, currently has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Litigation Paralegal in our San Francisco office. We offer competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.
Position SummaryOur San Francisco office is seeking a Litigation Paralegal with experience in insurance and general civil litigation defense, who will perform a variety of duties including researching law, investigating facts, and preparing documents for attorneys according to established policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Continual review and management of case files from inception through mediation arbitration trial
- Working knowledge and experience of e filing in both State and Federal Court systems
- Prepare subpoenas compelling depositions and or document productions
- Prepare initial discovery that is interrogatories, request for production, request for admissions
- Prepare draft responses to discovery including document productions and corresponding privilege logs
- Monitor deadlines for responses and timeliness
- Prepare attorneys for depositions
- Prepare deposition summaries abstracts
- Research vet and engage with subject matter experts
- Prepare legal documents such as briefs pleadings factual chronologies medical chronologies agreements depositions and or trial binders for use by attorneys
- Record capture billable time in compliance with client guidelines
- Investigate facts as requested by attorney
- Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents
- Trial preparation prepare trial subpoenas trial notebooks exhibit lists and witness lists engage in witness management schedule trial testimony prepare and manipulate trial exhibits presentations and other trial related tasks as necessary
- Attend trial as necessary
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- A minimum of five years of general civil litigation related experience is required Only applicants with this specific experience will be considered

Skills:
Working knowledge of internet software Excel Word Adobe Acrobat Pro Lexis Nexis Pacer Relativity Sanction Trial Pad and E Filing experience in both State and Federal Court systems - Written Communication:
Writes clearly and informatively edits work for spelling and grammar varies writing style to meet needs - Experience with trial preparation and participation including organization of witness materials and preparation of physical and electronic exhibits and exhibit manipulation software such as Sanction Trial Director Trial Pad Relativity and Power Point
