Position: Senior Counsel (Part-time)

This part-time Senior Counsel role is designed for experienced litigators to lead meaningful case work, mentor litigation teams, and deliver strategic results while billing approximately 100 hours per month.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategy and oversight for complex insurance defense and civil litigation matters
  • Collaborate with attorneys across teams, offering high-level guidance and mentoring junior litigators
  • Oversee case development from inception to resolution, including trial preparation when needed
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, balancing exceptional representation with practical solutions
  • Contribute meaningfully while maintaining a flexible schedule of approximately 100 billable hours per month
Who You Are

You are a highly experienced litigator (8+ years) with a strong background in insurance defense or complex civil litigation. You’ve led high-stakes cases and thrive on strategy, courtroom advocacy, and collaboration. You’re looking to stay active in litigation without the demands of a full-time role—and you’re energized by mentoring, advising, and making an impact with flexibility and purpose.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop a case theme that is persuasive and principled
  • Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs and trials
  • Work as part of a team with all levels of experience
  • Maintain routine communications with clients
  • Cultivate relationships with the firm’s existing and future clients
  • Provide leadership and direction with respect to less experienced attorneys
Requirements
  • JD from an ABA-accredited school
  • Must be licensed in the State of California
  • 8+ years of solid litigation experience, including litigation support, deposition and trial preparation
  • Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including discovery and trial
  • Experience with time management systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Experience with lower billing requirements while maintaining the same level of work
