Qualifications- Undergraduate or graduate degree in chemical engineering or chemistry
- Registration with the USPTO
- Minimum 2+ years of experience with patent prosecution, drafting patent applications, and due diligence.
- Direct and applicable experience in a large or mid-sized law firm.
Chemistry Patent Agent
Hybrid with some in-office expectations or remote (as appropriate)
Boston, MA, San Diego, CA, Palo Alto, CA, Seattle, WA or Philadelphia, PA Office
Expected hiring range for this position is $120,000 $ 225,000 per year depending on the candidates geographic market location. The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidates experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
Responsibilities- Draft patent applications
- Investigate technical areas of the patent
- Amend claims to expand the scope of an invention
- Negotiate license agreements and other technology transfer agreements
- Communicate with clients to gather information for patent filings
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Good business judgment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Research and problem-solving skills
- Conceptual thinking
- Ability to influence others
- A degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, organic chemistry, or biochemistry
- Experience with patent prosecution, drafting patent applications, and due diligence
- A doctorate awarded in the chemical or related fields
- Experience as a patent examiner
