Under the direction of the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel of the Government Law Advisory Section (AGC‑Government Law) will :
Supervise attorneys advising on the California Political Reform Act, California Government Code section 1090, other conflicts‑of‑interest laws, the California Public Records Act, state contract administration, and employment law.
Litigate or supervise the litigation of superior court lawsuits, appeals, and State Personnel Board cases relating to these areas.
Supervise a team of Legal Analysts, a Legal Support Supervisor, and Legal Secretaries.
Serve as the Commission’s Ethics Officer if requested by the General Counsel.
Ensure that the Government Law Advisory Section meets the standards on supporting client operational needs, work product quality, productivity and timeliness, collegiality, and fulfillment of the duties and principles of public administration, personnel management, and supervision.
Engage in Legal Division‑wide and Commission‑wide management initiatives, including strategic planning, process improvement, recruitment and hiring, and training.
Facilitate the professional growth of the team and perform other duties as necessary or directed by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel.
