Sompo North America provides client‑centric white‑glove service with multi‑line capabilities across industry verticals. The Large Property team supports Industry Practice with commercial property, casualty, lead umbrella, environmental and parametric catastrophe products.

This position may be based at San Francisco, CA;
Los Angeles, CA;
Irvine, CA;
Seattle, WA;
Chicago, IL; or other Sompo offices.

• Drive acceptable submission activity and determine risk acceptability per Sompo guidelines.
• Review applications and financial requirements quickly for risk acceptability.
• Apply pricing components and rating methodology using financial and competitive analysis.
• Utilize underwriting tools and knowledge of strategies to comply with guidelines.
• Perform thorough account reviews and file documentation.
• Prepare or analyze adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and status reports.
• Adhere to guidelines to minimize exposure and price risks appropriately.
• Stay current on state/territory regulations and trends; use sophisticated pricing models.

• 8+ years underwriting/insurance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in primary underwriting with brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers.
• Underwriting in real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, and professional services.
• Track record of profitable business with underwriting, quoting, and binding.
• Strong relationship‑building with insureds, agents, and brokers.
• Negotiation skills.
• Team player and collaborative.
• Attention to detail.
