Temporary UX Strategy Director
• San Francisco United States
We are a temporary, 6‑month contract assignment, with no salary, but a suitable hourly rate.
About the RoleAs a Strategy Director, you will be the strategic lead for a portfolio dedicated to one of the world’s most significant digital ecosystems. This is about ecosystem strategy, not traditional advertising. You will define how users and developers experience the web, mobile platforms, and the future of internet standards.
Responsibilities- UX & Product Mapping: Apply a UX lens to brand challenges. Evaluate how users interact with digital interfaces and identify opportunities to improve the “on‑device” experience.
- Touchpoint Orchestration: Lead strategy for major digital‑first moments—from immersive virtual keynotes and developer conferences to interactive web‑based storytelling and “on‑device” content.
- Insight Synthesis: Distill global tech trends, competitive whitepapers, and user data into actionable creative briefs that push the boundaries of what’s possible on the web.
- Collaborative Leadership: Work hand‑in‑glove with Creative Leads, UX Researchers, and Creative Technologists to ensure strategic visions are inspiring, technically sound, and user‑friendly.
We are looking for a strategist who speaks “fluent tech” but thinks “human.” Candidates at the Associate Director, Strategy Director, or Group Director level are welcome if you have a passion for the open web.
- 7–12+ years of experience in digital strategy, UX strategy, or product marketing within an agency or tech‑first company.
- UX Strategy Toolkit: Comfortable looking at user flows, wireframes, and digital architectures. Design for utility, not just for “cool factor.”
- The “Complex‑to‑Simple” Filter: Proven ability to take high‑level technical concepts and turn them into simple, emotional, and persuasive narratives.
- Agile Mentality: Thrive in fast‑paced environments where technology evolves quickly and timelines are tight.
- Storytelling Excellence: Master of the pitch—able to command a room (or Zoom) and build deep trust with high‑level technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with large‑scale developer communities or B2B2C tech platforms.
- Knowledge of the “open web” philosophy and current trends in data privacy and AI.
- Background in UX Research or Service Design.
