The Emerging Technologies (ET) team mandate is to invest globally in deep-tech and AI innovation and development opportunities, which have the potential to drive inflection in existing industries or create completely new markets.

The ET team leverages its science and technology domain expertise, global reach, investment acumen, partnership mindset and business development capabilities to invest in early-stage deep tech start-ups which have a fundamental and differentiated techno‑economic entitlement to outperform and deliver outsized returns.

Within this multi-billion mandate, the team aims to curate and build growth enterprises leveraging deep tech platforms with globally competitive partners, with the aspiration to create global category leaders in strategically important industries which will be part of Temasek’s future core portfolio.

The candidate will be part of the team originating, developing and building emerging technology platforms. He/she should have a strong drive, sense of purpose, capacity to learn quickly, be able to concurrently lead cross‑functional teams, collaborate across different teams/businesses and is well grounded in science, engineering and/or technology on first‑principles basis.

• Originate, structure, and execute investments in emerging, high growth and deep tech domains through direct investments, joint ventures, and new platform creation using first principles thinking of science, engineering, and product development to inform investment decisions.
• Build foresight and thought leadership in emerging technologies, maintain a global view of emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and value pools across deep tech, AI, advanced engineering, and frontier technologies.
• Develop, expand, and maintain an ecosystem of innovation networks (deep-tech experts, founders, venture partners, scientific advisors, global collaborators, etc.).
• Lead portfolio value creation, as well as provide strategic leadership and guidance to build a high performing team.

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in the science or engineering disciplines. PhD and/or MBA would be viewed favorably.
• At least 15 years working experience corporate VCs, financial tech VCs, product development, tech strategy, consulting firms, or growth start up space.
• Good investment and commercial acumen.
• Strong relationship building skills with good existing network in US or Singapore.
• Good leadership capabilities to manage high performing team members, multiple priorities, and stakeholders.
• Skilled and experienced in navigating complex organizational and decision‑making structures to drive outcomes.
• High level of interpersonal skills, integrity, learning agility and self‑awareness.
• “Dare Mighty Things” mindset.

This role is location‑agnostic, with primary work bases available in Singapore and San Francisco. The base salary range for this job in San Francisco is US $350k to US $400k annually (not including additional incentive compensation). Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and other conditions of employment.
